How many hours do you spend in a day clicking selfies? Never counted? Well, according to a survey commissioned by feelunique.com, women spend over five hours taking selfies each week! Seriously, what is this madness to document your face with the same features and the same pout all the time? It's beyond us, really. But, do you know what's worse? Clicking selfies while you are on a vacation.

So, here's a word of advice: stop being so self-obsessed and take a look around. Thank your lucky stars that you have found the time and the resources to break free from the monotony of life. Here are a few things you can do on your holiday besides clicking incessant selfies.

Take Pictures of What's Around You
If you must whip out that phone or camera, then take pictures of what's around you and not just yourself. Take a shot of the church you just visited or the morning dew on the rose buds, early in the day. Let your imagination run riot. Fill your phone with pictures of the places you are visiting rather than your face. Don't worry, you will still have it with you after you reach your hometown. Carry the visuals of the things you will be leaving behind.

Look Around
Though you are in the habit of documenting everything via a camera, maybe it's time to keep the device aside, and take in the picturesque panorama around you, visually. Do you even realize how many precious moments you waste trying to get a perfect picture of yourself? Why waste time doing something that will never satiate you. Look around you. Admire the hills, the beach, or the tranquil little hamlet you are visiting. Give yourself  a chance to create some beautiful memories.

Use This Time to Introspect

Take a close look at your daily schedule. You get up in the morning, force feed yourself, rush to your college or office, and spend half your day there. Once that's over, you rush back home, run errands, eat dinner, then hit the sack. How much time do you get to invest in yourself? Hardly. A vacation provides you with that much needed solace, away from the hustle-bustle of daily life. Use that time to think. Try to seek answers of questions that have been bothering you. With that kind of silence around, you will be able to hear yourself better.

Take a Break from Technology
How about taking a sabbatical from technology while you are on a vacation? You have absolutely no idea how much time it will leave you with to do other chores. For instance, spend time with your loved ones.

Imagine this: you and your guy are out on a date. But, instead of talking to each other, you are busy scrolling down your Facebook feed. Nodding yes to this? Well, use your holiday to bond better and leave your phones locked in your bag. Honestly, how much time do you spend with your brood every day? Hardly, right? Well, talk to them for a change while you are on a vacation. Trust us-- you will like it more than your selfies.

Learn New Things
Every place has so many lessons to impart, but only if you are willing to pay attention. Say, if you are visiting a remote town in Himachal Pradesh, talk to the locals. Absorb the culture. You will be surprised at the things even the tiniest of places have to offer. So, keep your eyes open and be more accepting.
