If you are an Indian woman you probably have been called a slut at least once in your life time. You see it's not that uncommon and we have all been there. Hell, even celebrities like Priyanka Chopra and Fatima Sana Shaikh have been slut-shamed by our society. And you thought life will be a little easier for the actresses. Tsk tsk.

However, have you ever wondered what actually makes the society indulge in name calling? Well, the usual reason obviously is related to basic rights of a woman--the same that a man is probably born with. But it also goes much deeper than that. For those uninitiated we have compiled five major reasons that can make you a slut, according to our lovely Indian society.

If You Wear Short Dresses, You Are A Slut

You see the minute you show your legs, even if it's just your ankles, you become a slut. You see, a female's body, according to the Indian society is supposed to be covered from head to toe. Not a single piece of flesh should be visible to a third person. So forget your jeans, your skirts, or your dresses for that matter. Wear a sari, drape that pallu over your head, hide your face, become a mummy, or be ready to be called a slut.

Do You Smoke? Well, Guess What--You Are A Slut

Smoking is totally unsanskaari, and if you are a woman who does that, you are probably of a loose character. Didn't you know only a man is allowed to smoke? In fact, for some it is actually a rite of passage. Why the partiality you ask? Well, for one simple reason--the minute you blow out that smoke ring, you blow out your morals with it too. And well, you become a slut. So no, do not smoke.

And God save you if you drink alcohol or go out to party. Shiva shiva, that's the worst crime ever.

Being Friends With Men

 

You are only supposed to be talking to only one man in your entire life, the man whom your parents will get you married to. Paraye mard se baat karna galat hai, didn't you know that? And if you have more than one guy friends then you are probably sleeping with all of them. C'mon don't deny that. Because even if you do, the society won't listen, as it has already made up its mind against you.

And what's a guy friend anyway? The Indian society doesn't allow a woman to have friends of the opposite gender, we thought you knew that.

Rejecting A Man's Proposal Makes You A Slut

Did a guy express his love for you and you put him in a friendzone? Well, well, you are a slut then. Instead of rejecting his love, you should actually be grateful that he considered you worthy enough for his love and affection. You should know that every man is entitled to a woman's body. Who cares about consent anyway? If you talk about free-will, know that you are not allowed to take decisions.

However, if you did accept his proposal, got into a relationship, and then slept with him, that makes you a slut too. Nope, there's no way out of this. You are stuck here.

Putting On Make-up to look Attractive

As you already have realized that a woman is supposed to be hiding herself at all times, you should know that you don't need to put make-up. Why would you want to look attractive? If you have any morals, you wouldn't pick up that lipstick and paint your lips red. Attractive women are sluts, you see.

Did the above mentioned reasons sound extremely stupid and regressive to you? Well, we don't blame you because they are. But, you know what you got to do? You got to live your life and reclaim the word slut because there's nothing wrong with that word anyway. Just be who you want to be ladies, don't let this society shackle you with ridiculous labels.
