5 reasons every girl needs a wellness vacation

Adventure is out there, but at times the best vacation is one spent rejuvenating and connecting with yourself.

Not too long ago, we heard about father-daughter duo Anil and Sonam Kapoor's wellness vacation to Austria . Then everyone went gaga over Malaika Arora Khan's post-separation get-away trip to the Maldives. Shortly after, Karisma Kapoor's wellness vacay to Atmantan Wellness Resort in Pune took the social media by storm. In fact, our very own desi-girl-gone-global, Priyanka Chopra, is known for her frequent wellness visits to Viva Mayr Wellness Clinic in Austria.

With B-Town celebs swearing by these off-beat holidays every now and then, saying 'wellness' and 'vacation' in the same breath never sounded cooler.
In case you are wondering if a wellness vacation is for you, here are 5 reasons that can help you make up your mind:

Also, the emotional and mental healing powers of activities like yoga, full-body massages, Ayurvedic treatments, spas, and meditation are very well established. Now that is quite a reason to pack your bags off to a wellness retreat right away, we say.

For instance, practicing mindful meditation in an awe-inspiring environment can unite your body, mind, and soul. Need a new perspective? Looking to gain insights about your purpose or direction in life? Going to a retreat is like giving yourself a chance to look at the world in a different way and to go on an adventure with your inner self.

The art of doing nothing is terribly hard to master. When was the last time you tried sitting still at home, doing nothing, not even switching on the telly? Busy schedules, back-to-back appointments, deadlines to meet almost make free time sound like a luxury too expensive to have. And even if we do manage to get some free 'me' time, we often wile it away on Facebook, Instagram, Twitter and what not. Enter: a wellness vacation at a secluded hilly retreat. Think no Wi-Fi, no mobile network, no data connection--complete peace from the hustle bustle of urban civilization. Trust us, you won't miss your friend's status updates one bit.

Ladies, you will be surprised to know that there is more to these off-beat vacations than just peace of mind. Many wellness retreats promote kick-starting a healthy lifestyle by focusing on weight loss and fitness. Many places have custom healthy eating programmes, and offer yoga, detox diets, and spa treatments which are likely to leave you feeling fitter than ever.

5. Because Sometimes, All You Need is a "Not So Typical"  Vacation

So, you have tried it all--adventure expeditions, sightseeing respites, shopping trips, and eat-to-your-heart's-content kind of holidays. But do you actually feel recharged after them? Sometimes yes. Sometimes no.  Travelling, changing hotels, catching buses, taxies and trains can take a toll on you and leave you feeling exhausted. The result? You feel like you need a vacation to recover from your vacation. Now, close your eyes and think about your stay at a beach resort-lazing around all day, doing absolutely nothing, except for a couple of massages and spa treatments maybe. Feel the difference?  That's what we are talking about.
So how about it? Next time you feel in need of support, try going on a wellness vacation--you may be surprised at what you find out about yourself, and a new way to see the world.
