What's green and is currently making everyone addicted to it? We are not talking about cannabis, you naughty person. We are talking about Sarahah. Yes, the same app that has taken over all your social media timelines. After all, it's the latest Internet craze and has everyone going gaga over it. So how did it start? The app was created by a developer from Saudi Arabia named Zain Al-abdin Tawfiq and it allows its users to post anonymous messages. Something like those age-old Orkut testimonials only with benefit of maintaining secrecy.

It all sounds hunky-dory right? We mean you can use this app to confess your love without any embarrassment. It seems like a boon for introverts. However, all is not well when it comes to Sarahah. Although the Google Playstore describes the app as a tool to help people self-develop by receiving constructive anonymous feedback, it's becoming a tool for cyber bullying.

We understand the obsession about knowing what people think about you, but there are things you definitely need to be careful about. Here are four things you should keep in mind if you are on Sarahah.

Don't Look For Validation Through This App

Apps like Sarahah can be easily used for seeking validation as well. You see, us humans are a little insecure when it comes to what people think about us. No wonder we think of log kya kahenge all the time, right? So, there will be people who will try to appease you just to boost your ego. Don't let that get to your head either. Be it positive comments or the negative ones, make sure you don't take any of it too seriously. After all, it's just an app, it's not your whole life.

There's No Need To Take Any Of The Criticism Seriously

The app may have been created for self-development, but that can also mean criticism. Say for example your co-workers don't like a certain habit of yours, but out of politeness they don't say it to your face. So they chose to use Sarahah to make you aware of that. Now that kind of criticism can pinch if you are not used to it. So what do you do? Well, you let it be. Don't take it to your heart and ignore as much as you can. Let haters hate.

The World Wide Web can be a scary place. Because you know what? With great Internet bandwith comes great risk of getting trolled. True story. You know Sarahah maybe anonymous, but that's what creates most problems.

In fact, several reviews on Apple's App Store cite a lot of the bad comments as a reason for giving Sarahah a weak rating. While cyber bullying has been considered a serious issue on social media, an anonymity gives the trolls even more power to shame.

Stay Away From Fake Apps

Various apps have surfaced on app stores that claim to reveal who left you that anonymous message on your Sarahah account. But do those apps actually work? Hell no. In fact, you need to be wary of these apps as they can lead to identity threats and similar cyber security risks. You never know which app you download on your phone in order to know more about that anonymous sender gets your phone hacked. Curiosity kills the cat and in this case it can kill your phone.

Guys, Sarahah is all fun and games, but remember it's just an app. Take it as Sarahahaha and you'll be happier, trust us.
